Discover the medieval town of Hall - without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in Tirol. It is famous for having one of the best-preserved old towns in all of Austria, even larger than the one in Innsbruck. The traditional design of the town center together with the modern architectural concepts of the UMIT Institute and the salt mine combine to form a unique town that is well worth a visit.

The historic town center dates back to a time when Hall was one of the richest towns in the region. In the Middle Ages, Hall was the economic center of Tirol thanks to its salt mine. There was a considerable amount of trade in goods which were later shipped on the Inn river, and the mint, which was built in the 15th century, was also an important factor of the economic rise of the town.

WELCOME TO HALL

Today, Hall is a pulsating small town full of life. There are many good options for shopping and eating out. Every year, thousands of visitors from all over the world come to Hall to visit the lovingly restored old town, Hasegg Castle, the Mint Tower, and the Mint Museum. The traditional Christmas Market is another attraction not to be missed. Other highlights of the annual event calendar include the Radish Festival and the Mountain Farmer Festival. Hall is a town where the rural and the urban population mingle. There are also numerous interesting cultural events, e.g. the Easter Festival and the Musik Plus series of events. Since 2004, Hall has also been a university town. The state-of-the-art UMIT Institute is dedicated to contemporary sciences like Medical Informatics and Nursing Theory.

We offer guided tours through the old town on Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat at 10.00 and the mining museum at 11.30 (until the end of October). The Mint Museum can be visited from Tue - Sun between 10.00 and 17.00.
