Wattenberg nestles in a hillside above the town of Wattens

The beautiful farms and houses that constitute Wattenberg are set 1,000 m above sea level and enjoy stunning views over the Inn valley.

Wattenberg used to be a pasture but became permanently inhabitated due to mining activities. Until the 17th century miners dug for gold and copper in the Mölstal valley near Wattenberg. When the deposits became exhausted, people concentrated on agriculture which has marked the landscape until this very day. The many recently renovated original farms make Wattenberg a very special holiday destination.

There are a large number of small chapels - Wattenberg features no church as the area has no parish of its own. That this region is very popular with hikers is obvious.

Some of the famous long-distance hiking trails such as Munich-Venice or the Adlerweg, the new main Tirolean hiking trail, lead through the idyllic Wattental valley to the Lizumer Hütte hut. By the way, the mountainscape surrounding Lizumer Hütte is also an insider´s tip for winter aficionados. Ski mountaneers love the numerous routes suiting various levels and skills.
