Bright heights rather than dark parlours: at Hoadlhaus panorama restaurant in the Axamer Lizum area one sits protected amidst nature.

Hoadlhaus is south-facing

What could be more beautiful than enjoying a break from skiing in the sunshine and letting one’s gaze wander across the snow-covered summits of the mountains? At Hoadlhaus at the top terminal of Olympiabahn lift in the Axamer Lizum ski area you can enjoy this even indoors. Enjoy the fantastic panoramic view protected from wind and weather from the Hoadlhaus restaurant. The building at an altitude of 2,340m was planned by the architect Klaus Mathoy in a way, to meet the people’s longing for light, air and sun: the western, northern and eastern façade of the restaurant that offers space for up to 600 guests, are dominated by large glass areas.

Thanks to the gigantic glass doors the winter garden can be converted into a sun terrace.

The southern-side, which is aligned to the horizontal in a 60°-angle, consists of large glass doors. These doors can – in case of sunshine – be retracted and convert one part of the room from a winter garden to a sun terrace.

Despite the airiness there is still a comfortable atmosphere: the sitting area features pinewood tables and chairs; solar collectors, earth heat exchangers and heat recovery provide for pleasant warmth.
