The course of the Eagle Walk that wind its way through Tirol symbolizes an eagle that spreads its ‘wings’ over the country. The course starts in St. Johann in Tirol and leads via the Karwendel Mountains to St. Anton am Arlberg and into the Lechtal. The eagle is the king of birds who flies higher than the rest. It soars high in the sky, far above the landscape below. The distance from everyday life, this feeling of freedom is what hikers experience in the Tirolean Mountains. This is why the Eagle was chosen as symbol and namesake for this great hiking route through Tirol.
